2012 could be a banner year. The winter has been very mild, and the animals are doing well.  Hopefully we start getting some better spring moisture, but as it stands now the animals don’t have to scratch and paw through deep or crusted snow.  They aren’t bunched up, and predators who use the snow to their advantage are finding it hard to eat.  Our 2011 season went very well for deer, elk, and antelope.  Northwest colorado in general had good private land big game hunting, but the public hunts were down due to the lack of snow. This combined with a mild winter should make for big survival rates for all of NW Colorado’s animals.
